NFL Roundup: Denver Edge Struggling Jets in Defensive Affair

During a defensive struggle this weekend, the Broncos managed to secure a close victory over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz provided the late decisive three-pointer to seal the ugly win.

Defensive Performance Seals Game

Despite recording nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after giving up a safety in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards throughout the contest.

The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard field goal with approximately five minutes left.

Historic Struggles for Jets Offense

In spite of their horrendous offensive display, the Jets still had possession with a chance to drive for a possible winning score. However Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it instead of calling on kicker Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.

The Jets quarterback struggled all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the fewest in any game since 1998.

"Our passing game was non-existent," the coach commented following the game.
