Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Is Here, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the upcoming animated film.

The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Classic Games

Similar to the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow

The feature will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his allies.

The company has three new games already confirmed for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
