The relatives of teenagers lost after a tragic inferno at a venue in a Switzerland's alpine town are confronting an painful wait for answers and pleading for information about their children publicly.

The fire ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of New Year's Day. Verified footage show the roof structure catching alight as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Authorities have warned that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the fatalities of the disaster, which killed 40 people and hurt another 119. A spokesperson stated on Friday that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with work continuing to identify the remaining few.

In the interim, loved ones have been posting on social media to appeal for any news about their loved ones who were at the bar that evening.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are still unconfirmed, according to an public plea from his mother.

The resident of Lutry near the city, informed a publication that she had gone back to the city to check whether he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the equivalent search in the capital, but was unsuccessful.

"This is a living nightmare, a horror. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in a serious state. Words cannot describe it," she told the paper.

She continued that some of his friends had been discovered with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they endured hell."

The Italian government has said that six of its nationals have not been located.

One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old promising athlete, originally from Genoa but now residing in Dubai.

The Italian Golf Federation has stated that he is deceased, without mentioning the tragedy, honoring a "talented young man who represented passion and true sportsmanship."

His father, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An official spokesperson has clarified that a official announcement of his death is not yet.

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise unaccounted for. His mother said that he had been on holiday but had gone out with friends and found himself at the bar.
