Liz Truss, launched the premiere of her YouTube show with a vow to expose "those with ill intent" attempting to bring down the UK, United States and European nations. Truss elaborated she would lay bare how an "international network of leftists function to subvert democracy and the will of the people."

"We're going to look at the political movement of Donald Trump and observe how it can be replicated in Britain," Truss declared. "We'll be talking to the prominent voices of the Trumpist political sphere."

Before the show's launch, there was a notably ardent backer. "This marks the start of a sort of transformation," remarked veteran reporter John Solomon. His conservative media outlet Just the News will host the ex-PM's new audio shows.

Establishing Ties in the Conservative Media Landscape

Compatriot supporters, such as a pro-Reform adviser, have also helped her set up the her new show. Its staging is professional, though simple. She has gathered 10,000 subscribers in her debut week and her first episode garnered 67,000 views in that timeframe.

It is a humble beginning, but in partnering with John Solomon, Truss is being entering a well-developed political media sphere producing and amplifying pro-Trump narratives. Its obsessions involve claims of media suppression by the mainstream media and a goal to remove a conspiratorial 'deep state' – which she attributes her downfall to for the rapid conclusion of her calamitous premiership.

"Just the News is not well-known beyond the Maga-verse, but it does have influence there, largely because of John Solomon, who gives commentary on conservative outlets like Steve Bannon's War Room and has even questioned Trump," noted an anthropology expert, who has closely studied the Trumpist political wave.

A Contentious Ally

The former PM's foray to transplant the pro-Trump media model to Britain has aligned her more closely to controversial figures such as the journalist.

He founded his media outlet following criticism when allegations surfaced of promoting inaccurate reports about Joe Biden's anticorruption effort in Ukraine, as well as controversial stories about ex-ambassador to that country.

These allegations were echoed within the conservative press, with Solomon serving as a frequent visitor on the widely-watched Fox News show. Trump himself promoted Solomon's reporting.

Solomon made the reports about Ukraine in a series of columns for the outlet The Hill, after having been moved to a columnist role when staffers raised concerns regarding his reporting. These reports were central in Trump's pressure for the officials in Kyiv to investigate Hunter Biden and his father in that year. These actions resulted in articles of impeachment targeting Donald Trump. The US Senate later voted to acquit the president.

Weeks after the journalist departed the newspaper in autumn 2019, the outlet announced it was performing a examination of his work about Ukrainian matters. It concluded Solomon had cited unreliable sources and stated he "omitted crucial information about key Ukrainian sources, specifically the detail that they had been formally accused or were being probed."

Entering the Ecosystem

His broadcast spots are a sign of the conservative ecosystem the former prime minister is entering. He discussed his endorsement of the program on a show he co-hosts on the conservative cable network, a rightwing cable channel that is the base for the conservative firebrand Steve Bannon and on which commentator Tucker Carlson also appears. The ex-PM has already spoken with Bannon on one of her first podcasts.

By partnering with Solomon and Just the News, Truss has become a niche participant in a much wider network of pro-Trump platforms that frequently share and promote one another's material.

His personal podcast and Real America's Voice show have repeatedly hosted figures such as Mike Benz, a rightwing influencer whose disparagement of the foreign aid agency was referenced by the X owner as grounds for shutting down the government body.

A Cross-Border Foray

Even though her awkward delivery and professional woes have drawn derision at home, some US observers are not discounting her efforts to revamp her image as a British branch of the Make America Great Again press.

"You have to take people like Truss as significant, despite the fact that you may not want to take them literally," said Rob Flaherty, who was employed in the Obama White House.

"It was evident how in the last election cycle the former president leveraged that ecosystem to get his message out. Undoubtedly that network transmits and affects discourse abroad. It seems fairly obvious to me that the conditions in the Britain are akin to what permitted this parallel press sphere to prosper in the US."

"Online platforms transcends national boundaries," Finlayson remarked. "There exists a sort of environment within which content circulates – on occasion appearing in harsh versions and other times more moderately – but which is connected."

Professor Hinton said the rise of the digital conservative movement in the UK in recent times meant the "possibility to have a larger effect is considerable."
