Vinted Users Express Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
