Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for details.
A senior official commented the incident left him speechless and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
